7-blade MT-Propeller in certification testing

Atting, July 2018

The WORLDs FIRST 7-blade composite full feathering reversing propeller for General Aviation Airplanes is in certification testing.

PC12 with 7-blade MT-PropellerPC12 with 7-blade MT-Propeller

Beginning of May 2018 MT-Propeller tested the new UNDUCTED PROP FAN, how MT likes to call the 7 bladed prop, on a Pilatus P-12 powered by a PT6A-67P. The flight tests showed that the 7-bladed prop reduces the noise level clearly and the performance tests showed very promising results. MT-Propeller is in technical talks with the turbine engine manufacturer for customizing the gear box to reduce the fuel consumption, to get the best out of the UNDUCTED PROP FAN.

Back in October 2016 MT-Propeller egineers and test pilots started flight testing the 7-bladed propeller on a Piper Cheyenne powered by the PT6A-135A turbines and the entire system performed with outstanding results. The endurance tests for certification were successfully performed on a turbine test bench for 3 months and 110 hrs.

All test bench tests inclusive flight testing have now accumulated more than 250 hrs of operation on the 7 bladed prop series.

MT-Propeller is working with high priority for the worldwide propeller certification. The first OEM has already ordered the 7 bladed propellers for a new project.

More information on the MT-Propeller systems and also a sound file of the fly by with the WORLDS FIRST 7 bladed prop can be requested from techsupport@mt-propeller.com

With more than 20,000 propellers systems and 70,000 blades in service, which have accumultated 150 millon flying hours, MT-Propeller will continue pushing the propeller powered airplanes. Worldwide, more than 210 STCs are available, 62 factory certified service center provide best service all over the world.

If you want your piston be smooth and low noise like a turbo prop and your turbo prop be smooth and sound like a jet, choose YOUR MT-Propeller.

Atting, June 2018

MT-Propeller delivered the 10,000 Governor developed and produced with his partner Avia Propeller in Prague.
The MT-Propeller Governors have a up to date design, low weight and high pump capacity. Because of the CNC manufacturing, MT-Propeller Governors allow high flexibility in modification for special applications.

  Types and versions:

  • Standard propeller governors for reciprocating engines
Standard propeller governors are used to control constant speed for all brands of  hydraulic constant speed propellers, either with or without counterweights installed.
These governors can optionally be equipped with mechanical or electric feathering, unfeathering, accumulator fitting, synchrophasing etc.

  • Single lever electric hydraulic governors for modern FADEC controlled engines.

  • Dual pressure reversing propeller governors The dual pressure reversing propeller governors are used to control constant speed and reverse function for reversible hydraulic constant speed propeller with the dual piston system installed.

  • Turbine engine constant speed reversing-feathering propeller governors
These governors are used to control constant speed, feathering and reversing/beta mode of operation for constant speed propellers used with GE-H80 engine and Walter M-601 engine, single acting or dual acting.

  •
  • Overspeed governors as a safety device for turboprop engines

The new governors offer a higher stability, easier installation for the end customers. Many OEMs have selected the MT/AVIA-governor system as a standard equipment for the aircraft.

MT-Propeller develops and produces high performance natural composite propeller for various applications at the headquarters on the Airport Straubing/Germany. With his business partner Avia Propeller in Prague MT-Propeller develops reliable und powerful governors for all types of propellers.

Canadian validation of 3-blade MT-Propeller on Rockwell Commander 114, 114A, 114B, 114TC

Atting, March 2018

Rockwell Commander 114 with MTV-9 MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH has received the Transport Canada Letter of Acceptance of the EASA STC 10054490 for the next generation 3-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-9-B/198-52 on the Rockwell Commander 114, 114A, 114B, 114TC powered by the Lycoming engines IO-540-T4A5D, IO-540-T4B5D, IO-540-T4B5 and TIO-540-AG1A.
This installation is already certified by EASA and FAA STC.

MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht said, that the installation of the 3-blade MT-Propeller on the Rockwell Commander 114 Series provides the following advantages:

  • No engine modifications.
  • Ground roll & takeoff distance over 50 ft obstacle is reduced by approx. 30 m (98 ft).
  • Climb performance slightly improved.
  • Very smooth cruising - no speed penalty.
  • Approx. 8 kg (17,6 lbs) less weight than the original 3-blade metal propeller.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitation and are repairable in case of an FOD.
They also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on stainless steel leading edges for best erosion protection of the blades.

MT-Propeller is the world leading natural composite propeller manufacturer with 30 certified propeller models from 2-blade to 7-blade hydraulically controlled variable pitch propeller, for engines producing up to 5000hp, and 2-blade to 4-blade electrically controlled variable pitch propeller, for engines producing up to 350hp as well as two blade fixed pitch propellers.
